GREAT EXPECTATIONS Yet another report by liberal worthies has lamented the poor performance of Afro-Caribbean pupils and - yes, you guessed it - attributes this to ‘institutional racism’ in the educational system. It refers to the need to ‘raise expectations’ concerning these pupils, as if this can somehow bring their performance up to the same level as the rest of the school population. The obviously retarded authors of this report need reminding that the whole philosophy of education is based on a single formula, namely P = AM or Performance = Ability x Motivation Thus, for example, a pupil with a native ability rating of eight out of ten and a motivation rating of six out of ten has performance score of 48; whereas another pupil rating seven out of ten for ability but nine out of ten for motivation has a performance score of 63. The most talented pupil may therefore fail to achieve his/her innate potential by lack of application, i.e. poor motivation; and may thus be out-performed by a less talented but more assiduous pupil. Now the inescapable conclusion of all reputable research over the last century is that, making due allowance for all socio-economic factors, the intellectual performance of negroes is always markedly inferior to that of other racial groups. In other words, whatever might be done to improve the socio-economic circumstances and motivation of black pupils, they cannot be expected to achieve the same level of intellectual performance as other racial groups. There is of course some overlap of the different racial groups in this respect, so that the best of the black pupils out-perform the worst of the other racial groups. The fact remains, however, that most blacks are always out-performed intellectually by most non-blacks; and that the upper reaches of intellectual performance remain permanently beyond the best efforts of the best black pupils. These are the facts of life. That they are hurtful to the self-esteem of black people in white societies is undeniable but also inevitable. And what always happens in such cases is that the aggrieved parties seize upon any ‘explanation’ which might improve their self-esteem by projecting the blame for poor performance onto other people. The latest report on low-achieving black pupils can therefore be seen as yet another attempt to bolster black self-esteem by pretending the innate disparity in intellectual capacity doesn’t exist. Needless to say, ten years or a hundred years from now the actual performance of blacks will be no better than it is today, regardless of any improvement in their living conditions by white people. It is a sociological commonplace that people with low self-esteem are far more prone to indiscipline and criminality, hence the hugely disproportionate number of blacks involved in school exclusions, truancy, class disruption, drug trafficking, bullying, mugging and every other type of offensive behaviour including stabbings and shootings. And surprise, surprise, the common demand of gun-toting black criminals is for ‘respect’. This paranoid tendency is therefore endemic among black and many Asian immigrants in white societies. After all, the fact that they are here at all reflects recognition that white societies are inherently superior to anything achievable in their own countries of origin. The Third World immigrant therefore brings his sense of inferiority with him. At first the alien intruder keeps a fairly low profile and trades on the native population’s customary indulgence and courtesy. But his smouldering resentments all too readily explode into anti-social behaviour when his own kind become much more numerous, let alone dominant. The appalling examples of post-colonial Africa are there for the entire world to see. The entire world, that is, except those liberal freaks besotted with multi-cultural fantasies and - as so often emerges in political scandals - also driven by sexual masochism in some shape or form. Wanting to be punished for some deep-rooted sense of personal guilt, the masochistic individual is always supportive of political nostrums which favour people less socially-advantaged than himself/herself. (We had a recent classic example of this in the LibDem politician reported to have paid a ‘rent boy’ to defaecate upon him. He could have saved his money; countless people would have done it for nothing). Returning to education then, it’s not a matter of ‘improving’ expectations regarding the performance of black pupils but of recognising their innate upper limit. While all institutions are capable of improvement, some of the people using them are not. Meanwhile, Nature remains inherently ‘racist’. F Kimbal Johnson May 2007 |
